We are happy to announce that scholarships applications are now open to deserving union families! Five $750 and two $1,500. Eligibility is open to members, their children or grandchildren. Applications will be accepted beginning March 13 with a deadline of May 1, 2024 at 5:00pm.

There are 4 components to the online application.

  1. Your personal information
  2. Union members information identifying your relationship to them and their AFSCME membership number. (can be found at the following link https://enterprise.afscme.org/enterprise-api/utils/memberLink/)
  3. Write an original short essay no less than 100 words, but no more than 400 words on the Topic: Explore the challenges and opportunities for labor unions in representing the interests of diverse groups of younger workers, including women, minorities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. 
    Awards will be based on academic accomplishments, personal integrity, civic and social engagement. By submitting your essay you are giving permission to Local 1067 to post winning entries on their website. Any essay that does not adhere to the word count or is found to be plagiarized will be disqualified.
  4. Uploading the following documents by clicking here:  

A letter of reference from one of the following people:

  • A person from your high school, school that you attended, or are currently attending, that knows you and can tell us how they think you will succeed in college/a technical program.
  • A person you have worked with (job related, or on a committee) explain.
  • A personal reference from someone in your community that can explain how long they have known you, and their vision for your success (not a family member).
  • References can email their letters to [email protected] Be sure to let them know to have candidates name first in the file name. ie: John.Smith_Reference

A copy of an acceptance letter from the college or technical program that you will be attending or if you are already attending, a transcript or proof of attendance.

All materials must be received no later than 5 PM on May 1, 2024.
